As an official, you’ll play a crucial role in ensuring fair play and enhancing the experience for players and fans alike. You’ll gain a deep understanding of the rules while developing valuable leadership skills. Plus, you’ll have the chance to connect with fellow football enthusiasts and contribute to your local sports community.
No prior experience? No problem! Training programs are available to help you learn the ins and outs of officiating, and you’ll receive support every step of the way.

Register
Step 1: Email Football NL regarding your interest in becoming an Official.
Step 2: Register online as a Football Official; Football Canada’s Officials Portal.
- Click on ‘Register’
- Fill out the information requested
- Click ‘Save’
- Click on ‘Profile’
- Scroll Down to ‘Your Local Association’
- Select ‘NL - Newfoundland and Labreador'
- Click ‘Save’
Online Training
Step 3: Complete the Level 1 eLearning (and Exam) Module;
TACKLE: There is a $20 fee to unlock this training module – payable to Football Canada.
- Click on ‘e-Learning’
- Select ‘Tackle Football’
- Select ‘Professional Development’
- Select ‘Official’
- Click ‘Begin’ on Level 1 eLearning
FLAG: There is a $20 fee to unlock this training module – payable to Football Canada. There is also an online theoretical exam associated with this training module.

- Select ‘Flag Football’
- Select ‘Level 1’
- Select ‘Official’
- Click ‘Begin’ on Level 1 eLearning
- After completing the Level 1 eLearning, click ‘Begin’ on the Level 1 Flag Exam
